New Debit Card Frequently Asked Questions
  • Q: Why am I getting a new card?
    A: The new card provides access to our new, improved rewards program as well as access to other services; including the surcharge-free Jeanie ATM network.

  • Q: How do I activate my new card?
    A: On or after September 23rd, call toll free 1-877-723-5111 from your home phone number. You will be asked to enter your card number and your phone number will be validated. You will then be asked to enter your social security number and to select a new PIN. The PIN may be the same as your old card or you may select a new PIN. IMPORTANT: If you are unable to activate your card please call your Hawaii National Bank Branch for assistance.

  • Q: What will happen to the automatic debits linked to my old card?
    A: The expiration date along with the CVV value (the 3 numbers located on the back of the card) will both change. Due to these changes you must contact your merchants and update your payment information.

  • Q: Does the new card work the same?
    A: You may use your new card wherever you used your old card. However, transactions are now “real time.” This means that your account balance is immediately adjusted by the transaction amount, reflecting the “real time” or current balance in your account.

  • Q: When do I get my new card?
    A: New cards arrive the week of September 14th. The new debit card may be activated, beginning Wednesday, September 23, 2009.

  • Q: What do I do with my old card?
    A: Once you have activated your new card, destroy your old card.

  • Q: Who do I call with questions?
    A: Please call your Hawaii National Bank branch with any questions regarding your newly issued debit card.

  • Q: Can I activate my card by visiting one of the branches or using the ATM?
    A: In order to activate your card you must call 1-877-723-5111. Unfortunately, you will not be able to activate your card at the branch or by using the ATM.

  • Q: How do I earn reward points on my debit card?
    A: Signature-based transactions earn 1 point for every $3 spent. As with your old card, ATM withdrawals, PIN purchases, and over the counter cash withdrawals do not qualify to earn rewards points.

  • Q: What happens to the points I’ve earned on my old card?
    A: Any rewards earned on your old card will be credited to your checking account by the end of October.
